Dercos Shampoo and Dercos Ampoules are safe, easily administered and clinically proven treatments for addressing Alopecia – or hair loss - amongst men and women.
The active ingredient specific to Dercos Shampoo and Dercos Ampoules is Aminexil, a relatively new and unique chemical that specifically fights and prevents Perifollicular Fibrosis – a condition that is present in all degrees and forms of Alopecia.
Aminexil has been specially developed and patented by French skincare specialists, Vichy. The clinical trials reveal significant increases in quantity of new hair produced with application and -importantly - definitive strengthening of the existing hair, resulting in increased thickness and overall better condition.
Quite simply, Alopecia is most commonly referred to in terms of hair loss from the scalp. Whilst the causes vary, from allergies, to infection, to pregnancy to genetics, its main cause can be attributed to hormone level changes. It’s a very common condition that is estimated to affect 50 per cent of us at some point in our lives, with a distinct prevalence in men. By the age of 50, around half of all men will develop the most common form of Alopecia: the Androgenic variety which is known as Male pattern baldness.
The reason more men suffer from Alopecia than women is likely to be attributed to the relationship between testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Although DHT is elemental for development and growth of all body hair; it may also be responsible for the loss of hair from the scalp.
Androgenic Alopecia will affect - to some degree – 15 per cent of pre-menopausal woman. Once women have gone through menopause, they produce fewer female hormones and thus excessive amounts of male hormones (Androgens) around the hair follicles. These appear to block hair growth and increase the likelihood of women developing Androgenic Alopecia.
Consistent across both older men and women, however, is Diffuse Alopecia - which is a general thinning of the hair. With all forms of Alopecia, from the most common, Androgenic Alopecia, through the more developed forms, Alopecia Totalis ( full scalp hair loss ), to complete Alopecia Universalis (total body hair loss ) - one key element is present : Perifollicular Fibrosis.
Clinical trials by global leading L’Oreal laboratories identified Perifollicular Fibrosis as a constant in all forms of Alopecia. This has been defined as a build up of collagen around the root of the hair follicle, which then becomes rigid and tightens. As a result, the blood vessels which nourish and stimulate the hair roots are compressed and constricted. This in turn pushes the root to the surface - causing the hair to fall out prematurely.
Further research by L’Oreal laboratories point to Perifollicular Fibrosis being responsible for the disappearance of new hair follicles, because it appears to prevent hair from forming deep roots in the scalp.
In a year long study, 350 men and women were enrolled in order to assess the effects of regular Dercos use. Just six weeks into the clinical trials, an eight per cent improvement in condition, thickness and quantity of hair was found in those using Dercos regularly, compared with those using a placebo. After eight weeks, the Dercos users showed six per cent more hair growth, whereas the placebo users had lost three per cent of their growing hair.
Other results involving Dercos use include:
Dercos has a hypoallergenic, pH neutral formula which doesn’t contain soap. It has been extensively tested dermatologically and designed to minimize any allergic reaction, so Dercos is highly unlikely to irritate the scalp. The shampoo and Ampoules can be used with your usual toiletries, or in conjunction with other hair re-growth treatments.
Dercos contains Aminexil, a unique chemical that specifically fights and prevents Perifollicular Fibrosis – a condition that is present in all degrees and forms of Alopecia. The Hypoallergenic formula is easy to use with its smooth foam, and easily absorbed into the scalp. This ensures effectiveness from the root – where the formula is designed to be at its most active.
Dercos contains the unique chemical Aminexil and it is designed to stop hair loss by preventing perifollicular fibrosis. This is a condition that accompanies all alopecia whereby the collagen around the root becomes rigid and tightens, pushing the root to the surface and causing premature hair loss.
Regular use of Dercos in a clinical placebo-controlled trial of 350 patients, proved that patients utilizing Dercos, over an 8 week period, had 8% more hair-re-growth than those who used a placebo. Importantly, there was also an increase of hair density on average by 6% and those who continued to use Dercos had much less hair-loss.
